How would you like to enjoy your vacation in the Philippines? Pack your backs and make your way to Palawan and you'll have the travel escape that you've been waiting for your whole life.
Be captivated by Palawan's islands, lagoons, beaches, mangroves and rainforests. Unlike other popular tourist destinations, it is a well preserved province owing to the efforts of the community and local government units.
For historical trips, check out Palawan Heritage Center which opened June of this year. It is a museum embodying Palawan's past and present arts and culture. Take also a look at Cuyo Fort which the Spaniards built for Filipinos to prevent other colonizers occupying the land. Another defense structure worth visiting is Cagayancillo Fort, a haven for residents against pirates and raiders in the early years. Old churches are also still standing there such as Cullion Cathedral and Immaculate Conception Church.
There are also great places just for divers. Tubbataha Reef is the most popular place to go for divers. It lies on extinct underwater volcanoes. During diving season, which is from March to June, diving ships are reserved years in advance. Be mesmerized by all the marine species like fish, coral and giant turtles. If you're lucky, a dolphin or two will play with you. Do you want a challenging dive? Pack your gear and travel to Apo Reef. A whirlpool can suck you if you're not careful. Other than that, it is perfectly enjoyable with all the sea snappers, sea fans and hammerheads to make your day.
Palawan paradise does not end there. The beaches are heavenly with its clear blue waters and perfect white sand. The most famous private island is the Amanpulo resort in Pamalican. This is a perfect hideaway for celebrities, local and foreign. Another Palawan's best is El Nido. Distinguished because of its secluded white beaches and dazzling green lagoons, its beauty is utterly breathtaking.
Wildlife sanctuaries also house a great number of indigenous breeds of animals and species of plants. One of these is Calauit Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary. You needn't go to Africa to see exotic animals such as giraffe, zebra and waterbuck. It is also the home of mongoose, bear cat, peacock and many more. In addition, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is a travel escape. A rich ecosystem coupled with underground river gives it the perfect breeding ground of fauna and flora.
This is Palawan. A paradise in Philippines awaits for you.
